Feature: Guild Membership

As an established member of a guild, you can rely on certain benefits that membership provides:

  • Fellow guild members will provide you with lodging and food if necessary, and pay for your funeral if needed.
  • In cities with a guildhall, you have access to the hall and any political connections it offers.
  • You must pay dues of 5 gp per month. If you miss payments, you must make up the difference to remain in good standing.
  • Your guild provides powerful connections — you can gain an audience with local rulers, nobles, or other powerful figures through guild intermediaries.

Suggested Characteristics

Guild artisans are among the most ordinary people in the world — until they set down their tools and take up an adventuring career. They tend to be hardworking, practical, and community-minded.

Variant: Guild Merchant

Instead of an artisan’s guild, you belong to a guild of traders, caravan masters, or shopkeepers. You have proficiency with navigator’s tools or one additional language instead of artisan’s tools, and a mule and cart instead of artisan’s tools in your equipment.
