Aldrich the Lore Master

A figure encountered in Weber-Hollows, introduced as “the Lore Master.” The DM also called him “the Lord Master” once before settling on “Lore Master” in subsequent references, so the title is Lore Master.

The party can ask him for more information about the area’s history (per Flinter-Barrows: “you can ask your lore master, he’ll tell you more about it”). He grabbed Tharion by the shoulder during the encounter.

NOT to Be Confused With Alaric

Alaric is Roland’s loremaster retainer. Aldrich is the Weber Hollows town lore-keeper. Different people. The party debated the spelling at length and confirmed both names exist as distinct NPCs.

Session 2026-05-01

Aldrich slept at the party’s camp the night the fog rolled in (separate from Roland’s retainer Alaric, who shared Roland’s tent). In the morning he was grumpy, called Tharion an inexperienced healer (“young man has lots to learn”), and shouted encouragement during the crypt combat:

“Sir Roland! Good job. Praise be to Amareses! In the name of the White Stag!”

This explicitly ties him to the Amareses faith and the White Stag thread.

He shared canon owl bear lore the morning after the fog:

“A majestic monstrosity, but also a beast. Half owl, half bear. They hunt in the dead of the night. Fierce creatures, though they usually mate for life. Undisturbed and unprovoked, they shall not attack.”

Azalea pushed back, claiming an aggressive owl bear leads her hometown. Lore left at “usually.”

Open Threads

  • He was reportedly slapped by a party member during the prior encounter and reacted strongly. Bond with the party still uneasy despite his cheering during combat.
  • As lore-keeper of the town, he is the natural source for backstory on Aradorn, Isar Recmir, the founding of Weber Hollows, the lifting mechanism, and the brothers’ falling-out.
  • Did Aldrich know Isar’s casket was empty? Did Aldrich know about the missing ring?
